For the first time, the public is invited to walk through the Montpelier Idaho Temple. From Thursday, September 10 through Saturday, September 26, 2026, anyone who would like to see inside a house of the Lord can tour the temple before it is dedicated. After the dedication in October, entrance is reserved for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who hold a current temple recommend, so this open house is a rare and open door.

What Is a Temple Open House?
A temple open house is a public tour held after a temple is built and before it is dedicated. Everyone is welcome, members and neighbors alike, with no cost and no reservation required. You walk quietly through the finished rooms while representatives of the Church explain what each space is for and what happens there.
No temple clothing is needed to attend, and you do not need to be a member of the Church. The open house is simply an invitation to see the building and feel the peace it is meant to hold.

The tour is a walking tour that lasts about 45 minutes, and after the tour, representatives of the Church are available to answer questions. The temple is wheelchair accessible, and restrooms and drinking fountains are on-site.
For parking, Monday through Friday visitors are asked to park at the Montpelier Idaho Tabernacle, 630 Washington Street. On Saturdays the Tabernacle lot is also open, and if it fills, two overflow lots serve the temple with a shuttle. Anyone needing accessible parking may park on-site at the temple.
The Dedication: October 18, 2026
The Montpelier Idaho Temple will be dedicated on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a rebroadcast at 2:00 p.m. The dedicatory session will be broadcast to congregations across the temple district. A dedication is the sacred service in which the building is offered to God and set apart as a house of the Lord. The open house is the moment to see the temple before that step; the dedication is the step itself.
Managua Nicaragua Temple: The Same Open House Window
Far to the south, another house of the Lord opens its doors on the very same dates. The Managua Nicaragua Temple holds its public open house from September 10 through September 26, 2026, and it will be dedicated on the same Sunday, October 18, 2026, with Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presiding. Two temples on two continents, opened to the public in the same window and dedicated on the same day.
Why This Temple Matters
The Montpelier Idaho Temple will be the eighth dedicated temple in Idaho, joining those in Boise, Burley, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Pocatello, Rexburg, and Twin Falls. Three more are on the way in the state. Idaho is home to more than 482,000 Latter-day Saints who gather in over 1,300 congregations.
Montpelier sits in Bear Lake County in southeastern Idaho, near the Utah and Wyoming borders. For families across the Bear Lake and Star Valley area, a temple this close to home changes what worship looks like. A trip that once took hours now takes minutes, and the temple becomes a regular part of ordinary weeks rather than a rare journey. President Russell M. Nelson announced the Montpelier Idaho Temple in April 2022.

You are welcome to come as you are. The Church suggests business casual clothing and comfortable shoes, since the tour is a walking tour. No white clothing or temple clothing is needed for the open house itself.
